SEVEN COSTLY MISCONCEPTIONS

1. Training and experience really don't matter . It would be important to know if the hypnotist you're talking to completed his training at the top of the class, if not where did he rank? Or did he just read a book?

2.  I can get fixed in one session . Possible but unlikely. Be very cautious of the hypnotist that promises to fix everything in one session. A temporary change can be more costly than investing a few extra dollars into a permanent change.  

3.  Certificates prove he can do it .  Be wary of titles and self anointed "specialists" with certificates that may not be worth the paper it's printed on. Ask how they earned those certificates. You may not be so impressed.

4.  Any professional can do hypnosis . Avoid anyone that is not a full time professional hypnotherapist in the field. Psychologist try to apply psychology models while a professional truck driver really doesn't have a good working model of what hypnosis can really do. Your brain isn't a train, don't play with it! .

5.  I'll go to the cheapest hypnotist .  Too low and you will find the hypnotist lacking experience, unsure of themselves or learning on your hard earned dollars. Too high a fee usually translates to an attempt to stretch what the market will bear. Fees under $100 dollars or over $200 dollars per session are red flags and you're not likely to get a good value for your money.

6. A recording is all I need . Recordings of any sort are most often a waste of money because they are non-specific, generalized and not targeted to your specific needs. Recordings of your own personal sessions are golden and very productive.

7.  To be effective hypnosis must be done in an offfice .  How or where you hear your hypnotist isn't an issue. What is VITAL to your success is the skill and experience of the hypnotist.  A good hypnotist can deliver amazing results on stage, in front of an audience of thousands, in a group setting, an office or even by phone saving you significant money and time.  Office maintainance is expensive so why would you want to pay for office overhead if you don't have to?

1.  Can I expect the results of your work to be permanent?

2.  What kind of guarantee do you have?

3.  Could you tell me about your experience with my problem?

4.  How can we know in advance your sessions will work for me?

5.  Is being a hypnotist your only profession?

6.  How soon can I expect to see results?

7.  Would you please tell me about your experience and training?

8.  Can you show me comments from some happy clients?

BASE CAMP

Now you're at base camp. You know all of what you need to know to make an intelligent decision at this moment. The psychology of learning tells me you will forget 90% of this vital information by this time tomorrow and you will have slid back down the hill to where you were a few minutes ago, wishing things would get better.
